MacOSX@LHC

MacOSX@LHC is a collaboration at the Laboratoire de l'Accélérateur Linéaire (LAL), part of the IN2P3 institute of CNRS, that aims at leveraging the state-of-the-art technologies found in MacOS X to facilitate the production, analysis and representation of the data of the LHC based HEP experiments.

In order to achieve this goal, four objectives have been defined:

  • Integrating MacOS X platforms into grid platforms used at LAL,
  • Demonstrating the use of multithreaded and GPU technologies in scientific programming,
  • Ensuring software from ATLAS and LHCb run correctly on MacOS X, and
  • Adapting event display and analysis programs to run on a wall of displays (WILD project at LRI).

Apple has generously donated the majority of the hardware used in this collaboration.

More information can be found in the ARTS proposal that is attached to this page and from the project coordinators listed there.
