Quattor Montly Meeting - 2/9/10

Actions during the summer

QWG releases

New SPMA/ncm-spma (Victor):

  • First draft of changes committed in a separate branch
  • Schema changes + new functions
  • Lot of checks done, no deployed changes on an installed machine
    • Only XML changes
    • No side effect expected... but more testing required in production
  • Cal: lets put it in the trunk and test it
    • Victor: tests can be done in 2 phase: new component, then new schema

Monitoring templates (Ronald) :

  • Concentrated first on migrating NIKHEF to QWG (like) templates
    • Basically done
  • A few incompatibilies already identified: no major showstopper but requires careful inspection
    • Send a short summary of incompatibilities before doing real work: will try to make some progress in the next month...

PAN compiler 8.4: MS evaluated it but some downstream dependencies found preventing going immediatly to production

QRC plugin release: SixSq agrees to do it (Cal), Nick will send the material by email

Maven evaluation status:

  • Cal already built 2 components for StratusLab with Maven
  • Eli is trying to build a standard one
  • Eric agreed to setup a repository

Wiki content actions: still to be done

  • Pb when coming from quattor.org
  • Review headings

Workshop Preparation

Nick: would like to see an agenda set up a bit earlier than usual

  • Nick/Ian: site report session a bit too long in one go. Reduce it or split it?
  • A session (at the beginning?) more dedicated to new comers to Quattor
  • Site survey rather than site report (Michel)

Beginer's session: difficult to know in advance what is necessary

  • Keep it as part of the hands-on session?
  • Let people mention they are interested in the registration form?

Possible topics:

  • Pan status
  • Work on virtualization support
  • Maaven-based replacement of build tools
  • Monitoring
  • QWG/SCDB status

Send an email on the list for ask for abstracts

  • Encourage submissions of small talks or just presentation of ideas or needs
